PREVOUSLY ON "DAY AT THE BEACH":

"Man down!"

"What do we do? The currents are too strong, we'll get washed away as well."

"Wait, what is that Linoone doing? Is it really going to jump into the-? That's suicide! There's no wait it will… No way… It did it, look! Over there! They're back on the surface."

"They're too far away, there's nothing we can do. Slateport is a few miles down those currents, with little more than dumb luck they can make it through."

---

"Have you made up your mind where to now Elisa?"

"Not sure Ina, I'm thinking Mauville, but I'm honestly more excited about Lavaroot's hot springs."

"Remember we're only staying in Hoenn for a few days, we need to plan out our route carefully.."

---

"Cotton, what happened?"

"Napoleon, there was trainer, pale, just lying there at the shore."

---

"It's a zombie!!! RUN!!!"

"It's not a zombie, he just moved! Rupert! Napoleon! We need to get this man to our master, she'll know what to do."

"Veruka… Do you think he'll make it?"

"I don't know Cotton, let's just hope he does for now,"

---

"(Iris is better than me in every way: she's more beautiful, nice, polite and mature. What chance do I have next to her? She's a better choice for Ross to go after than I am. I should just step out of the way…)'

"Sister, are you OK? Why are you crying?"

"Saria! Don't go! Come ba-! Ugh!!! Saria…"

"Ross, there' something under the sand… I think it's a Linoone."

---

"Cario! Cario!!! LU-CA-RIO!!!"

"Vincent, calm down! What are you trying to- Wait, is that-?! Guys, we need to get this man inside! Let's see if Ina can do anything for him for now. "

***

Iris looked at him, then at where Saria had run off to, then at the unconscious Linoone, then at Ross and back at Saria. The Raichu could tell she was as uncertain about what to do as he was.

Hesitating for a moment, he groaned as he made up his mind. He wanted badly to go after Saria, to know what was wrong; it hurt him to no end to know she was out there, crying, and he wasn't doing anything about it. However, they had found a hurt Pokemon; as far as he knew this could be a life-or-death situation. Saria would understand, she would have wanted him to do this had she known about it.

"Hey, hello? Are you alright?" Ross lightly shook the Linoone, trying to make it regain sense. He then pressed his paw to its neck and sighed in relief as he felt a pulse, "Iris, I think we're going to need some help."

The Linoone's eyes fluttered open for a moment with a lifeless expression as she moaned something unintelligible in a feminine voice before they closed back down. Iris, who had seemed with every intention to go after Saria, nodded at him before stepping in.

"No! Brother! Iris! Don't do that! It's another one of the zombies!" Scratch yelled as he saw both of them getting closer to her.

"They come from the water! The other one did exactly the same!" Morrigan cried.

Both Ross and Iris just rolled their eyes, realizing they were still thinking of zombies. This time it was something serious, they would just waste time trying to talk some sense in them.

"It's too late for them! They must have been already brainwashed or something! We gotta get out of here!" Sibelius squawked.

"But aren't we already out?" Morrigan's head tilted in confusion.

"You get the point! Just run!!!" Sibelius hadn't finished saying this as he took flight, shortly followed by Scratch and Morrigan.

Ross and Iris, on the other hand, continued trying to shake the Linoone away.

"Do you think she'll be OK?" Ross asked after a while.

"You mean Saria or this Linoone?" Iris asked worriedly before blowing a cool breeze to the unconscious Pokemon's head.

"Well, both of them," Ross responded, his mind clearly wandering away from the situation.

Iris took a moment to try and do what her master and examined the Linoone. The soaked fur made it impossible to see anything, "Well, she doesn't appear to have any open wounds, that should be a start. As for Saria... I'm really not sure, I had never seen her run away like that."

The Raichu gulped nervously, for some reason he felt this was all his fault. What if she was scared? What if she got lost? What if he never saw her again? What if...

"Ross!" Iris' voice snapped him back to reality. It was then that he noticed she had one of the Linoone's paws hung over her neck. He followed to do the same and began to drag the Linoone to their masters.

Halfway through, Ross suddenly came to a stop, "Iris, I'm sorry but I'm going back for her. I just can't do this knowing Saria is out there on her own, I just-"

"Ross!" the Glaceon snapped at him angrily, giving him a glare he had never seen her give him before. "You think I'm not worried too? That I'm not dreading every single moment of not knowing what she's going through?" Iris's voice had begun to break, she wasn't even trying to hide it, "She's my little sister Ross, I'm supposed to look out for her. I should be there, with her, be the shoulder for her to cry on."

"But I'm here Ross, you know why? Because even I know this could be something serious. Linoone don't roam this area or get close to the water unless they've been taught Surf; she has a trainer. Think of master Ina or Elisa, just what would it be like for them if one of us got lost? That trainer could have been going through something even worse than what we're going through for hours even. That's why I'm still here Ross," by the time she was done her eyes were watering, but she was still looking at him as seriously as she had before, only a bit more hurtful.

The Raichu was at a loss of words for a moment, she had a point. No wonder why Iris was the elder sister: despite being younger than him she sometimes acted even more maturely than he did, "I... I'm sorry Iris, I don't know what was I thinking."

"It's OK, I know how you really care about her," the Glaceon sniffled a bit more calm as she slowly tried recovering herself, "let's just hurry so we can go looking for my little sister."

Not too long after they had picked up their pace they felt the Linoone on their backs begin to stir. "Ugh... Wh... What is...? Where am...? Master!" the Linoone seemed to have suddenly snapped back to life as she jumped off their backs and began to look around desperately. "Master! Master! Oh no... Oh no..." this, however, was short-lived. Not before long the Linoone was collapsing back down, coughing out water.

Ross and Iris rushed over to her. "Hey, are you OK? Don't push yourself too hard for now, you just woke up," the Glaceon placed a paw to her back.

The Linoone stopped coughing, turned around at once and noticed the Glaceon and Raichu, "You saved my life..." she gasped as her breathing slowly came back to normal.

"We just found you," the Raichu explained. "I'm Ross and she's Iris by the way. Thank Arceus you woke up, we were hoping our master could do something about you. Are you OK? What's your name?"

"My name is Lin. I think I'll be fine, thanks for looking out for me," the Linoone replied, though her mind seemed to be wandering. Truth was that her head felt light, her legs were killing her and she needed some water, badly. However, there was still something more urgent at hand, "Um, excuse me, you didn't happen to find a trainer when you found me, did you?"

"A trainer? I'm afraid not, only you," the Raichu said apologetically.

Lin's ears drooped down in disappointment, "Well, I guess I'll keep looking for him. Thanks for helping me."

"Wait, what happened? How did you end up like that?"

"I'm sorry but there's no time, I really need to find my master, he could be hurt. Seriously, thanks for the help but I really have to go," she bowed her head gratefully as she stood up. She hadn't taken three steps when everything began to blur and felt herself back on the floor.

The first thing she saw was the Glaceon, standing right in front of her. "Sorry, but you won't get too far like that. We can help you, but please, tell us what happened," the Glaceon insisted.

The Linoone sighed deeply, this Glaceon had a point, right now she could barely move. She took in a deep breath and began to explain, "Master was fixing something on the streams near Pacifildog Town when something went wrong and he fell into the water. The current was dragging him and no one was doing anything so I panicked and jumped after him to save him. It was only until I had done it that I realized it wasn't a good idea. Luckily master taught me Surf not too long ago and I managed to get him on my back but the current was too strong, I couldn't swim back to the shoreline. We let the current carry us over the night, I somehow managed to stay afloat. However, when the sun came up and we saw land we thought it was finally all over, but then there was a huge wave. After that... I don't know, everything is blurry..."

Iris noticed the Linoone's head look down and placed a paw on her shoulder, "Hey, don't worry, just come with us, I'm sure we will find your master."

The Linoone just nodded before bursting into tears as she stood back up. They headed back to their masters, shortly followed by the Linoone.

Ina had some medical knowledge with Pokemon which, if limited, had proven to be useful on humans as well.

Under her command they had cleared one of the tables and laid the young man on top of one of them.

Elisa once again just stood by and looked around to the walls, her Pokemon and back to the body awkwardly; Ina had been examining him for a few minutes by now. "So... You think he'll be alright? Should we take him to a hospital?" she asked half-worried half-impatient.

"Miss, I already called an ambulance, they'll be here any time," the shopkeeper, a broad man, said from behind the counter.

"But even that may not even be necessary," Ina finally spoke after minutes, "he's in a pretty bad state, several bruises and sunburns, but he's breathing normally, has a steady pulse and nothing seems to be broken so he's technically fine. He's going to be weak and dehydrated when he wakes up though, maybe a hospital is not a bad idea."

""Not a bad idea"? Miss, I beg to differ, this is no Pokemon but a person; you can't just spray some Potion on a person and say everything is OK. Do you have an idea of how bad it would be to have a person die at this establishment? I'm trying to keep a business here. Take him to a hospital, the expense is on me, I'd rather not take risks," the clerk rolled his eyes as he continued to wipe one of the cocktail glasses.

"He has a point. Thank you random background character that is lucky if he gets one more line in this story!" Edna, Elisa's Mismagius, smirked mischievously.

"... What?" Napoleon raised an eyebrow as he turned over to her.

"Long story, you wouldn't understand," Edna smiled and stick out his tongue at him.

"OK..." the Floatzel scooted away from her.

Suddenly a groan was heard. They turned over and saw the young man slowly waking up. "Ugh... Where am I?" he moaned groggily as he tried to get up.

Ina stopped him at once, "Woah, take it easy, you've been out for a while. How are you feeling?" she said almost out of pure force of habit, she never really got more than a Pokemon cry in response.

"I've been better," he sighed weakly as his hand went to his brow, apparently in pain. "Where... Where am I?"

"You're on The Seaside Shack, the coolest place over the hot beaches of Slateport City," the clerk grinned widely over his overly-rehearsed slogan.

After an awkward pause the young man remained thoughtful, "Then I actually made it through?" he spoke with an air of disbelief. He looked around, the idea still not sinking in completely, "I made it to Slateport?" he was chuckling by now.

"Umm, yeah. You OK?" that laugh was starting to creep out Elisa a bit.

The young man just nodded, smiling broadly. Suddenly his eyes went wide open as he looked around once, "Lin!" he gasped, looking around desperately, "My Linoone! You didn't see a Linoone when you found me?"

Elisa and Ina turned over to Veruka, Rupert and Napoleon but they just shook their heads. "I'm sorry, but I guess it was only you," Ina finally said after a moment.

The young man's stare went blank, emotionless, as if in some state of shock. "No way..." his voice was distant.

"Hey, don't worry that much, if you made it through I'm sure your Pokemon can't be that far," Elisa said calmly as she furtively gave Veruka a signal whose urgency didn't match her voice. "What's your name? How did you get there?" she tried changing the subject.

The Fire type took the cue and not before long she, along with Vincent and Rupert, had stormed off the shack to look for the missing Pokemon.

"Oh of course. My name is Axel, I was fixing some things near Pacifildog but fell into a current and- Wait..." he stopped as he saw the Pokemon going out. An Infernape, a Toxicroak, a Lucario,  also a Lopunny and a Floatzel. Common, but there was something familiar about them; he hadn't seen a group of all of them since...

Axel looked back at the woman who had tended to him, finding her familiar as well. However, it wasn't until he saw the trainer that he realized why, "No way... Jenna?!"

Elisa gasped, quickly placed her hand over his mouth and looked around nervously. "Don't call me that in public!" she whispered into his ear, angry.

Now she recognized the name. She had a hunch he seemed familiar but with sea-thorn hair and clothes it had been difficult to recognize him.

No more than two years ago a boy afraid of his own shadow had come to her ranch to deliver some Pokemon she had inherited from a distant relative (And ended up releasing them). Despite his fear of Pokemon she managed to convince him to take one of them with him.

This was the same boy; older but still a boy.

"Isn't that your name?" Axel seemed confused.

"Middle name, everyone used to call her that during her trainer days" Ina added quietly, "but now only close family call her that."

"Ina here is an exception to that of course," Elisa snickered," but yeah, let's just say it brings up unwanted attention."

Axel raised an eyebrow, "Unwanted attention? You didn't do anything bad, did you?"

"What? No! Do you have an idea of how many trainers try becoming breeders after beating a League thinking they know everything about Pokemon? Well, a lot! And they all fail after a month or so," Elisa burst out, still whispering

"She had a great reputation as a trainer, but she wants to make a reputation as a breeder so she avoids the name," Ina added casually stepping between them.

"OK... So how do I call you?" he asked a bit hesitant now.

"Just call me Elisa. Oh and if they ask you Jenna is my cousin," she grinned, the plan was just perfect despite Ina rolling her eyes every time she explained it.

"Ma'am, sorry to interrupt your whispering but the ambulance is here, make sure to make way," the shopkeeper said casually as he continued to arrange the cocktail glasses.

"Ambulance? Really?" Axel raised an eyebrow.

"He insisted, just to be safe," Ina shrugged as the paramedics burst into the shack.

"Is this the man?" one of them asked.

"Apparently," Elisa said casually.

Axel looked around confused as four paramedics surrounded him, bringing in a stretcher. "Uh... Look, I just need something for the headache, some water and I think I'll be just- Wait! What are you doing? I'm fine! No need to- Hey! I didn't allow for- Keep that needle away from-! From..." his eyes head suddenly fell limp as the meds kicked in.

"Was that really necessary?" Elisa asked almost humorously.

"We had orders to bring him in, he was showing resistance," the head medic said in almost military tone.

"Right... Can we at least know where this hospital is?"

"This is a tourist town, the hospital is connected to the Pokemon Center for convenience."

"Gotta admit that is convenient," Elisa had learned the hard way it was sometimes better not to mess with authorities when visiting another region so she just shrugged it and allowed them to take the stretcher through the door.

***

"Hang on, we're almost there," Iris said as encouraging as possible as the shack came into view.

"Yeah, yeah," Lin nodded almost idly. Her head had started feeling light for a few minutes by now and it was only because she was leaning on Ross for balance that she hadn't dropped to the ground.

"So, does your master have other Pokemon?" the Raichu asked awkwardly but trying to keep the Linoone awake.

She turned at him, nodded and opened her mouth but the words didn't come to her head, only a yawn.

"Oh, I see. And is he a good trainer?" he asked, but suddenly bumped into something he realized was Iris.

The Glaceon stood still, looking at the distance, "Ross, there's an ambulance out there, and those are not just Pokemon nurses," she said frightened for some reason as she saw the doctors taking out a stretcher from the shack.

This brought the Linoone back to her senses, "Master?!" she looked up and her eyes went open wide as she recognized the trainer the paramedics were bringing to the ambulance.

Ross never saw it coming: one moment the Linoone was leaning on his back; the next one he was face down on the floor and the Linoone rushing in a straight line through the doctors. Another later she stood protectively over the trainer, her head buried against him.

"Ross, hurry up!" Iris helped the Raichu up before racing over to the ambulance, where not only Ina and Elisa had gathered near to but also all of their teammates, staring in shock at what was happening.

The Linoone stood protectively over the trainer, her head buried against him.

"Sir, what do we do?" one of them asked after several failed attempts to shove her aside.

"Well, this must be one of his Pokemon, it sure seems attached to him. As long as it doesn't try to bite I say we leave it alone," the head paramedic said as he closed the ambulance doors.

The engine started and not before long the ambulance was gone.

"Do you think that was the Linoone he was looking for?" Ina asked after a long awkward silence.

Elisa just shrugged, "If it was, talk about being lucky. Now come on everyone, let's get to the hospital."

Does anyone remember this story? Because being honest, I barely did :XD:.

Originally part of my last year's :iconrandom-doom-fanclub: Contest , found this half-done a few weeks ago and decided it was worth finishing. No longer under the two OC limit but I don't see the need to add any more though. Hard to keep track of a story you haven't heard of in almost a year so I went with a semi-humorous recap (Gotta admit that was fun to try).

Iris tries to do the right thing no matter how hard it can get to do so, that includes saving a lost Linoone even when her own sister is in pain (She's unaware she is part of the reason her sister is in pain in the first place though).

Elisa is trying to avoid her own reputation as a trainer from affecting her breeding career (She even took in a secret identity so don't tell anyone she's actually THE Jenna Canelli ;)).

The castaways are finally reunited (That was convenient), but how will they make their way back to Pacifildog when they can't even make it past a few nurses? Tune in next time to find out :la:.

Thank you so much for reading this far. Comments are mostly appreciated.
