They found the Lopunny running back to them, her face pale and her eyes tearful. Napoleon hurried over to her, held his arms out and she buried her head into his chest, shivering. "Cotton, what happened?" Napoleon asked patting her back.

The Lopunny took a moment to calm down a bit before being able to speak, "I-I was just picking up seashells and-"

"I don't want to hear anymore!!!" the Lucario interrupted, shuddering at the thought.

"Vincent!" Several voices snapped at once.

"Sorry, my bad. You were saying?"

"There was a dead body," the Lopunny sniffled.

The silence was absolute.

"... What?" Veruka was the first to recover her speech.

"There was trainer, pale, just lying there at the shore," Cotton's voice was still shaky.

The Infernape furtively looked behind her and indeed recognized a human silhouette lying on the beach at the distance. She gasped silently, not only due of the impression but also the fact that want it or not they were now all involved into this, it was too late to just ignore it. "Cotton, are you sure he was...?" For some reason her own voice betrayed her now and hesitated to say the word.

"Well I... I'm not sure. I didn't really check, it was all too sudden," Cotton's voice was still on the edge of breaking. It was then that she gasped as a different kind of concern filled her face, "Oh my! He could be alive!"

Before any of them had a chance to react the Lopunny already had rushed ahead.

As they all followed her, Veruka noticed that Vincent seemed a bit reluctant about this. She turned over to him at once, "Vincent, are you OK?"

"Yes..." Vincent was a terrible liar, everything about him gave him up.

Now she was worried. This was going to be hard on everyone but if a Clamperl had been too much for the Lucario to bear, seeing a trainer was sure to give him nightmares. "Vincent," she stopped him for a moment, "think you can go get master for us? We might need some help."

Relief drew on his face at once. "Thanks Veruka," he mouthed silently before hurrying away.

With Vincent behind they continued their way. They found the Lopunny kneeled down right next to the body, her paw on his chest, shaking him up an beginning to look genuinely frightened.

"It's not working!" she cried as she spotted them.

It was then that they took a closer look to the body: a short, dark haired young man. His hair and clothes were still soaking wet, meaning the body had washed ashore not too long ago. It wasn't a trainer though: he didn't have any Pokeballs with him or any of the usual gear a trainer would have (Though, considering he wasn't moving at all, anyone could have easily taken it from him).

Although trying to remain strong for her team, Veruka found herself shivering. She had seen a few accidents at the Pokemon Centers, but never a human. Although there were no open wounds or blood the sight still gave her stomach a hard time. As she looked back to Napoleon and Rupert she could tell that, while trying to hide it, were still shaken by the sight.

"Hey guys! Wacha' doin'?" a voice from behind startled them even further.

As they turned around they noticed a familiar Pachrisu, as well as a Chatot and a Bunneary right behind him.

"Morrigan! Don't look!" Cotton hurried to the Bunneary and held her tightly to her chest. The Bunneary faded out into a Zorua, unable to keep up with her illusion in the shock.

"Why? Is there something behind you guys?" the Pachirisu asked excitedly as he leaned to the side to take a peek, but was stopped almost instinctively by the Floatzel before he could.

However, the Chatot flew high into the air beyond Veruka or Rupert's reach before they could stop him. "Ahoy! The sea has washed a castaway onto our shores!" Sibelius squawked, mimicking a pirate's voice, chuckling a bit to himself.

"A castaway?" both Scratch and Morrigan said in unison before breaking free of their captors with relative ease and going towards Sibelius.

Suddenly, the Pachirisu's face went pale in shock. This one definitely didn't look like the ones he had seen in TV or movies, "Uh... S-Sibelius..."

"What?" the Chatot asked oblivious to his concern, admiring his finding happily.

"I... I think he's... Dead," Scratch gulped at the mention of the word.

"What?!" Sibelius's eyes went wide open at the sudden realization.

The Zorua gasped and began to shiver in fear as soon as she heard of this. "G-Guys... This isn't funny!" she's cried in protest.

With his face pale, Sibelius reached for a stick he found on the ground, picked it up with his talon and carefully poked at the body in front of it. He gasped in shock at once, "Oh Arceus! He IS dead!!!" the Chatot cried.

By this point Morrigan had already turned away, too scared to look, and Scratch was staring at the distance, completely idle.

Suddenly, they heard a low, ghoul-like moan. The three young Pokemon slowly turned around to see the head of the body beginning to rise.

The cry of fear was general. "It's a zombie!!! RUN!!!" the Chatot squawked as he literally flew away, shortly followed by the Pachirisu and the Zorua who, on her rush, forgot to resume with her illusion.

Veruka, on the other hand, limited herself to sigh in relief: this man was still alive, "Rupert! Napoleon!"

"Got it!" the Floatzel responded before firing a relatively weak Water Gun straight to the trainer's head. The young man was sent backwards by the water pressure and stirred a little, but didn't do as much as to wake up. "Uh, Rupert, you were supposed to hold him."

Cotton, Rupert and Veruka just stared with a blank, dumbfounded expression. "No! You idiot! You were supposed to help Rupert bring him back to master!" the Infernape snapped after a moment.

"How the heck was I supposed to know that?! You didn't say anything!" Napoleon said defensively.

Without another word he went over to the trainer, shortly followed by Rupert. They lifted him up, hung one of his limp arms over their necks and began their way back to where they knew their master was, shortly followed by Cotton and Veruka.

Halfway there the trainer seemed to start drifting back to consciousness and moaning something that sounded incoherent.

"Do you think he'll make it?" the Lopunny asked worriedly after this had gone on for a few minutes.

"Let's just hope he does for now," Veruka responded. "He's got a better chance now, that's for sure."

-Somewhere else-

Elisa just fidgeted her fingers and looked around as Ina kept on tracing possible routes on their map, shaking her head no in frustration every time she lifted the marker. It was better not to disturb her while she was working so for the fourteenth time her attention went back to the menu on the wall, wondering if she had already memorized it.

She idly picked up the remaining Lava Cookie, and it was only until then that she realized she still had one left. Part of her wanted to save it for later, but almost beyond her will the cookie ended up reaching her mouth as she took a small bite.

Suddenly, a loud clash of metal was heard as a dumpster crashed into the ground along with...

"Vincent! Are you OK? What happened?" she said worriedly as she hurried over to help him up.

"Cario! Cario!!! LU-CA-RIO!!!" her Lucario spoke alarmed as he stood back at once, pointing to somewhere outside.

"Vincent, calm down! What is it?" Elisa was starting to grow alarmed too. Her Pokemon had this knack for getting in all sorts of troubles.

Suddenly, the Lucario came to a stop as he noticed something on Elisa's hands. "... Cario?" he leaned his head to the side.

Elisa couldn't believe it: her Lucario was nearly full grown and quite the powerhouse when it came to battles; yet, he was still able to give her those same begging puppy-stare eyes of when he was still a young Riolu whenever he wanted.

"Fine, you can have it," Elisa said almost regretfully as she handed over her last Lava Cookie to Vincent. It couldn't work for him forever, but she had to admit it was hard to refuse sometimes, especially when he gave her such a grateful look as he took a small bite.

One thing out of the way though, the Lucario had calmed down now, "Vincent, what were you trying to tell me?"

It all seemed to come back to Vincent's mind at once; his stare went blank as he gulped. "Cario!!!" he signaled his trainer to follow her before heading out.

However, they hadn't taken three steps out of The Seaside Shack when Elisa spotted her Floatzel, Toxicroak, Lopunny and Infernape coming at her, carrying something she wasn't expecting.

"Ugh, this guy is heavier than it seems," Napoleon grunted as he carried the limp body of the trainer.

"Hold on, we're almost there," Rupert grunted back, "but seriously, just what did this guy eat?"

"Maybe too much saltwater? No time for this guys, it's an emergency," Veruka responded them, picking up the pace.

"Easy for you to say, you're not the one carrying him," the Floatzel rolled his eyes.

"If you're too tired to go on just tell me and we can switch. Maybe I shouldn't have beaten you that badly," the Infernape said tauntingly.

"You just caught me off guard!" Napoleon snapped angrily.

"Guys! That's enough. Besides, master is almost here anyway," Cotton stepped in between them and pointed to the front.

Elisa had already seen them and had rushed ahead, shortly followed by Vincent, who cringed at the sight of the person his teammates were carrying.

Elisa gasped as well, but manages to recover herself almost at once, "We need to get him inside, let's see if Ina can do anything for him for now. Hurry!"

The Floatzel rolled his eyes at the last part (Just what did she think they were doing?), but continued to bring the body to the inside of the shack.

-Somewhere else-

It seemed like the effects of the chocolate on Iris were wearing down. She was still grinning madly for no apparent reason but at least she wasn't bouncing uncontrollably in place anymore. However, with Vincent gone the task had turned out to be more tiring than it seemed to Ross and Saria, not to mention several times they had end up in awkward positions and situations trying to control the sugar-crazed Glaceon (Which for some reason caused her to grin even more madly every time it happened).

And yet, the Glaceon had finally calmed down and the three of them lied on the beach (Two of them tired after all that running, the other not so much), just watching the tide rise and fall, rise and fall, over and over again. Just one of those perfect moments of peace and quiet along with really close friends (And secret crush in case of two of them) that seemed almost too good to be true.

"Brother!" Ross realized the moment of peace was over the moment he heard the voice of his foster brother. Judging by his voice he could he, or one of the other two young Pokemon running behind him had run into trouble.

The Raichu sighed, "What is it Scratch?"

"A zombie brother... Guy was dead... Body just stood up..." the Pachirisu managed to say in-between his panting as he came to a stop, but his breathing remained sharp.

"It even moaned and tried to chase us! I saw it with my own eyes!" the Chatot flew back to the ground, breathing harshly as well.

Ross just rolled his eyes, "Scratch, have you been watching those zombie movies that I forbid you to watch?"

"That's why we watched a zombie series instead. But anyway, this had nothing to do with that brother. Ask Veruka or Cotton, they'll tell you the same, they were the ones who found him first... Oh Arceus! What if they were already bitten by him?" Scratch's face went pale as the idea crossed his mind.

"No!" Morrigan gasped in horror as tears began to form on her eyes before rushing over to Ross. "Uncle Ross, please tell me we can still help mom and dad," she sniffled before sinking her head against his leg, sobbing uncontrollably.

The Raichu sighed deeply as he gently stroke the Zorua's back, realizing it was going to be hard to talk some sense into them.

"There, there, don't worry Morrigan, I'm sure they must be OK," before Ross could say anything Saria had already stepped in, pulling the Zorua closer to her. "Besides, your dad is strong, if there was a zombie he would get rid of it before it could do anything, don't you think?"

Morrigan looked up to her, sniffled, and nodded her head yes.

"And wasn't Veruka with them too?" Iris seemed to have calmed down as soon as she realized she was needed, "I wouldn't think that zombie had much of a chance to do anything. But just in case, stay behind us; we will hold it back if it tries to come closer, right Ross?"

The Raichu was at a complete loss of words, but nodded. Not only had they manage to calm them down, but now it would also be easier to keep them in check. Having quite the experience dealing with children himself he had to admit, the Eevee sisters had a knack for this. "(Uh, Iris, how did you...?)" he whispered into the Glaceon's ear.

"(I'm usually inside the house so I did catch a few glimpses of the series they were watching. In fact I understand for Sibelius or Scratch but I was wondering how did you let Morrigan watch that)," Iris responded, a worried expression on her face.

"(Not even they should watch that, that was my bad for not seeing it coming)," he sighed regretfully, Scratch and Sibelius were indeed getting craftier every day. He had to admit it was nice to be talking to Iris as a conscious being one again though.

"(Don't be that harsh on yourself either)," the Glaceon said calmly, "(you do more for them than we could ask for. You'll make a good father one day yourself you know?)" she whispered in a way that seemed to suggest something.

Saria, on the other hand, was busy trying to keep a straight face as she stood still and looked into the distance, ready to defend the three young Pokemon, who had rallied behind her, from some non-existent monster. It didn't take her too long to notice Ross and Iris had been whispering to each other for a while.

For some reason, an odd thought crossed her mind. While her sister wasn't interested in the Raichu the same way she was, she wasn't sure of what Ross wanted. Being honest, Iris was a contest Pokemon, her beauty was far greater than most females back home. This without mentioning the Glaceon was as nice and sociable as she was, probably even more, not to mention more calm and polite.

As an idea dawned on her, despite the bright sunlight and summer breeze, Saria suddenly felt as if she was withering. Her sister was superior to her on almost every aspect, what prevented Ross from falling for Iris instead of her? The fact that she was closer to him? He had known both of them since a young age, the only difference was that unlike her sister she usually spent more time with him. Up to some point, she might have even come to annoy him: just how many times had she suddenly tried hugging the Raichu, give him a hint of her feelings for him, only for him to run away without a word?

Iris was also more mature, which considering how often he had to keep children under his watch was something he would appreciate. Her? He might as well see her as an annoying little sister.

Iris was definitely a better choice than she was. The Glaceon might not be interested in him but knowing her, if Ross asked her she nicely was sure to accept him; she knew the Raichu, he was definitely a good choice for a mate. It would hurt, yes, but she wouldn't hold hard feelings for him if he did; she just wanted the best for him, for both of them.

It was better if she stepped out of the way.

As this and more heart-breaking thoughts went through her mind she was unaware of the change of the tide behind her.

"Saria! Watch out!" Sibelius' ear-splitting chatter snapped back to reality, but not soon enough.

A wave almost the size of the Leafeon knocked her out of balance and into the ground. Not before long Ross and Iris were onto her.

"Saria! Are you alright?!" Ross offered a helping paw, which she reluctantly accepted.

"Yeah, I'm fine... I just didn't see it coming..." the Leafeon said almost lifeless as the water dripped off her face.

It was only after a moment that Ross realized what was dripping of her face wasn't saltwater at all, "Saria, what's wrong?"

The Leafeon just faced him for a moment as if about to say something. Yet, not a single word came out of her lips. Instead, her eyes shut tightly as she turned around and ran away, tears streaming down her face.

"Saria!" the Raichu rushed right behind her. However, in his rush he didn't see where he was stepping on and found himself tripping over something soft that was half-buried in the beach and falling face-full into the sand. "Saria..." his moan was almost a whisper as he uselessly tried reaching a paw out to her before she disappeared in the distance.

It was then that he heard another moan, and this one was coming from right behind him. He turned around to find a shocked Iris, Scratch, Sibelius and Morrigan staring at something on the ground. As soon as he saw what exactly had he tripped on his face wasn't any different.

Half-buried in the sand, almost completely drenched, was an unconscious Linoone.

And so the summer fun continues! Kids, remember to be careful when you go seashell-hunting, you never know what you'll find :noes:.

Yeah, Veruka is probably being way more harsh than usual here but keep in mind she's already angry at Napoleon from before (Yeah, she hasn't forgotten that just yet).

Also, for those wondering, I'm aware that :icontamarinfrog: has said that she sees Scratch and Sibelius in their early teens when Morrigan is around but I'm picturing a very, very young and still gullible Morrigan here, hence why they're still afraid of things they see in horror series (Except Scratch, he's totally NOT afraid of them :XD:); they're already being able to find legal loopholes though.

Now for Saria, with her sister being a Contest winner the idea of Ross and her was bound to cross her mind. Come to think of it, Iris is fairly similar to Saria... Would that work? :omg:.

Now we know the trainer is safe (Sort of), but what about that Linoone?

PS: :iconneko1inu2kitsune3: gets a cookie for guessing where this story was going :dummy:.

Thank you so much for reading this far. Comments are mostly appreciated.

Very interesting chapter. I agree with Stephon that they may have jumped to conclusions a little too fast but it was still funny to see Scratch and Sibelius go all zombie crazy over it.

Also nice idea having Saria think that Ross is falling for Iris instead. In my opinion it makes perfect sense seeing as how Iris technically is the more successful of the two sisters and Ross would probably be attracted to someone more mature in her mind. I hope that the two of them manage to work this out. Who am I kidding of course they're going to work this out and confess their love for each other.

Hope that Lin is alright. Otherwise Ghost might have to take issue with Axel.
